The name Kunpeng Trail comes from the legendary mythical beasts. Kun is a mythical fish, which is thousands of miles long; Peng is the phoenix, also known as the firebird and the immortal bird. The starting point and end point of Kunpeng Trail are both related to the phoenix. The starting point is Fenghuang Mountain, and the endpoint is Qiniang Mountain, also known as Dapeng Mountain. Kun was born in the sea and Peng has a mountain on its back, implying the imagery of mountains and seas. This coincides with the connotation of the main line of the Shenzhen hiking trail that connects mountains to the sea and is also the origin of the name. Shenzhen's hiking trail system consists of 'Three Trails and Three Routes'. The primary trail is the Kunpeng Trail, complemented by two Branch Trails, the Fenghuang Trail and the Cuiwei Trail. The Three Routes include the classic Yangtai Mountain Loop, Maluan Mountain Loop, and Sanshui Trail, with a total distance of approximately 420 kilometers. Kunpeng Trail is the main trail of Shenzhen hiking trails, with a total distance of 200 kilometers, divided into 20 sections. It runs through Shenzhen from east to west, connecting mountains, seas, and city, as well as forest parks, villages, wetland parks, greenways, reservoirs, and ecological belts. The starting point is the top of Fenghuang Mountain in the west, Feiyunding and the endpoint is Vice Peak Dayan Peak on Qiniang Mountain in the east. There are different levels of difficulty, including the most common Country Trail that even the elderly can do, primitive mountain trails that hikers love the most, as well as floating sand and gravel, and even coastal edge climbing. It is extremely popular and suitable for climbers of different abilities.

Kunpeng Trail Section 9 is officially 9.5 kilometers long and takes about 4-5 hours. The difficulty is 2 stars. It starts at Jinhu Road Trail Entrance and ends at Donghu Park Pearl Bridge. It passes through Honggang Park West District, Honggang Park East District, Buxinshan Park, Cuihu Culture and Sports Park, etc. The road conditions and scenery are very diverse, with cities, suburbs, and parks. It is a good route for family travel.
